This week, I have a fantastic exercise that involves creating organic shapes on your page. But it’s not just about putting pen to paper; it’s about immersing yourself in the therapeutic power of organic shapes and letting your creativity flow freely.

As you immerse yourself in creating these flowing, interconnected shapes, you enter a state of mindfulness and focus. The gentle curves and harmonious lines invite a sense of tranquility and peace into your mind and heart. You become fully present in the moment, free from worries and distractions.

The repetitive nature of creating these organic shapes has a calming influence on your nervous system. It helps reduce stress and anxiety, allowing your mind to find respite from the daily challenges of motherhood. In addition, the rhythmic flow of the shapes creates a soothing rhythm within you, fostering a sense of inner harmony and balance.

By engaging in this exercise, you also cultivate a deeper connection with your own creativity. You let go of perfectionism and embrace the beauty of imperfections. Each organic shape you create is unique and special, just like you. It’s a reminder that creativity is not about rigid rules or flawless execution; it’s about expressing yourself authentically and finding joy in the process.

So, take this opportunity to set aside some time for yourself. Dive into the world of organic shapes and let them guide you to a place of serenity and creative fulfillment. Explore the colors, lines, and patterns that speak to your soul. Allow yourself to be immersed in this therapeutic journey, and witness its profound impact on your mental well-being.

Instructions:

Step 1: Fill your page with organic shapes
Step 1

Before you start, slowly breathe in and out a few times to clear your head and ground yourself.

Start by drawing an organic shape on your page. It can be any shape that resonates with you—a flowing curve, a gentle loop, or a winding vine. Let your intuition guide your hand as you create this first shape. Organic shapes usually have curves that are flowing, unpredictable, and unsymmetrical.

Now, create another organic shape right next to the first one. Let this shape follow the natural curve or line of the first shape. Allow the two shapes to dance together, harmonizing like two puzzle pieces next to each other.

Continue this process, filling your entire page with these interconnected organic shapes. Each new shape you create should follow the curve or line of the shape next to it, creating a beautiful rhythm and flow on your page. Remember, the shapes should not touch each other but maintain their individuality while still being connected by following the same curves.

Step 2: Add color
Step 2

Once you’ve filled your page with these organic shapes, it’s time to infuse them with color. Use your favorite art supplies—colored pencils, markers, or watercolors—to bring vibrancy and life to your creation. Choose colors that are soothing and make you feel good.

Step 3: Fill your shapes with patterns and lines
Step 3

Now, it’s time to fill them with lines or patterns. Explore different patterns, lines, and textures, allowing your imagination to guide you.

Remember, you are deserving of moments of self-care and creative exploration. Embrace the magic of organic shapes and discover the transformative power they hold. Let your creativity bloom, and your spirit soar. You’ve got this!
