Instructions:

Step 1: Fill your page with wonky ovals.
Step 1

Before you start, slowly breathe in and out a few times to clear your head and ground yourself.

Start by filling a blank page with wonky oval shapes representing the coffee beans. Don’t worry about making them perfect—embrace the natural variations and imperfections. The wonkier your lines and ovals, the more realistic and charming your beans will look.

Step 2: Draw two wavy parallel lines across the middle of each bean.
Step 2

Next, draw two wavy parallel lines across the middle of each bean. Allow the lines to overlap or cross each other, creating the distinctive crack in the center of the beans. This crack gives each bean its unique character and adds depth to your artwork.

Step 3: Give your coffee beans a base color or multiple colors.
Step 3

Now it’s time to add color to your coffee beans. Choose a base color or multiple colors to fill in the beans. Be creative and experiment with different shades and combinations. Remember, no coffee bean is alike, so feel free to embrace variations in color and pattern.

Step 4: With a darker shade, go over the two parallel lines in the middle.
Step 4

Take a slightly darker shade of your chosen color and trace over the parallel lines in the middle of each bean. This step adds definition to the crack and helps the beans appear more realistic. Let the lines curve and flow naturally along the contours of the beans.

Step 5: Add details and shade.
Step 5

Add detail, texture, and dimension to your coffee beans. Create small cracks along the parallel lines in the middle of the beans, mimicking their natural variations. Enhance the texture by adding tiny dots on the surface of the beans.

To add depth, incorporate shadows beneath the beans and on their surfaces using a darker shade or diluted version of your base color. These details bring your coffee beans to life, adding visual interest and a realistic touch to your artwork.

This therapeutic coffee bean drawing exercise offers a delightful artistic experience and a gateway to embracing imperfections, immersing yourself in mindful moments, and relieving stress. So grab your pen, embrace the wonkiness, and let the coffee beans guide you on a creative journey that uplifts your spirit and soothes your soul.

Remember, every bean you draw is a unique masterpiece. Embrace the process, enjoy the imperfections, and celebrate the beauty of your own artistic expression.
