In this mindful lines and baubles exercise, we’ll turn the outcome of a relaxing lineart activity into Christmas baubles.
Drawing lines is so relaxing. You don’t need to create over-complicated stuff to enjoy art. Just lines can be enough.
This exercise is not about drawing perfectly straight lines. It’s about relieving some stress and being in the moment. To be honest, wobbly or crooked lines can even make it more interesting.
So leave your perfectionism at the door and draw. The repetitive movement of your hand combined with focusing on the task at hand can get you in a nice flow in which you forget everything else for a while. A moment just for you.
I hope you have some well-deserved creative me-time with this exercise!
Have fun with this mindful lines and baubles exercise! Please let me know if you’ve tried this one; I would love to see it.

Supplies used:
Glitter watercolor paper 300gr (Paul Rubens), watercolor (Kuretake Gansai Tambi), fineliner 0.05 (Winsor & Newton), fineliner 1.0 (Copic), circle template (M+R), water brush (Pentel), washi tape.
Alternative supply suggestions:
You can use whatever material you have for this exercise, such as colored pencils, crayons, watercolors, etc.
You don’t need a circle template to do this exercise. Any round object will do.
Instructions:
Step 1
Before you start, slowly breathe in and out a few times to clear your head.
Grab a circle template or a round object and draw a few circles.
Step 2
Now, it’s time to pick your colors. Choose ones that calm you or make you feel good. Fill your circles with these colors. To make it more interesting, I always make one side of my circle darker than the rest. This will create some depth and contrast.
Step 3
We’ll start by placing a dot somewhere in your circle. This will be the focal point of your exercise. It’s fun to vary where you put the dot for each circle. Every spot creates a different effect.
Grab a small-tipped pen or a sharp pencil. This will help you to draw thin lines. Start at the edge of your circle and slowly draw a line from the edge to your dot. Continue with the next line. Keep it parallel to your previous one. Make sure the lines do not cross, but they can overlap. This will create darker parts in your circle, which add movement to your lines.
Step 4
Repeat step 3 for all your circles.
Step 5
Now it’s time to turn our circles into Christmas baubles. Add a loop to all your circles and draw a string from the top of your paper to your loop. You have now created some fun Christmas baubles.
Now this mindful lines and baubles exercise is done! I hope you had fun.
