Kickstart Your Creative Self-Care Journey with a Unique Habit Tracker

Discover a unique habit tracker for moms to effortlessly blend daily creativity with self-care. Kickstart your artful journey this New Year!

As we step into the New Year, many of us are embracing resolutions, especially around self-care and personal growth. We moms often put our needs last, especially when it comes to self-care. This New Year, let’s change that with a creative twist. I’m excited to share a unique habit tracker that doubles as a daily creative exercise, designed to fit seamlessly into the busy life of a mom.

This exercise offers a dual benefit – it serves as a habit tracker and a daily creative practice. The act of filling in a circle daily with creative expressions can be incredibly therapeutic. It reduces stress, enhances mindfulness, and boosts mood. Additionally, the satisfaction of seeing a week or month’s worth of creative work can be immensely fulfilling and motivating.

For those new to creative self-care, this exercise is a fantastic starting point. It’s less daunting than a large blank page and provides a structured, yet flexible way to incorporate creativity into your daily routine. As you fill in each circle, you’re not just tracking a habit; you’re building and reinforcing it.

Have fun with this unique habit tracker exercise! Please let me know if you’ve tried this one; I would love to see it.

Alternative supply suggestions:

You can use any material for this exercise, such as colored pencils, crayons, or a pencil.

Instructions:

Step 1: Draw a decorative frame around the edges of your sheet. Leave some space at the top for a title.
Step 1 – Drawing the Frame

Before you start, slowly breathe in and out a few times to clear your head. Then, bring yourself to the present, away from all the day-to-day stress.

First, draw a decorative frame around the edges of your sheet. Leave some space at the top for a title.

Add a horizontal line near the top of the page to separate the title area.

Step 2: Fill your page with circles and add a small semi-circle tab to each circle
Step 2 – Adding Circles

Using your round object, fill your page with circles. Don’t make them too small; make sure they’re at least about 5cm/2 inches in diameter. As this is a habit tracker, think about how many days you would like to track this. Keep in mind that if you want to track it for a month, you might need a large sheet of paper or several smaller ones. For this exercise, I created a habit tracker for a week.

Don’t worry about making your circles perfect and evenly spaced; that’s not the point of this exercise.

Add a small semi-circle tab to each circle – think of these as little labels.

Step 3: Fill the background with patterns and colors
Step 3 – Decorating the background

Now, it’s time to fill the background with patterns and colors. Get creative here – use different colors, patterns, or even doodles. Leave the circles and their labels blank.

For my habit tracker, I’ve used neurographic drawing to create the background. If you want to know more about this, check out my neurographic drawing exercise.

Step 4: Add a title that reflects the time period you’re tracking

Step 4 – Adding your title

At the top, add a title that reflects the time period you’re tracking – like “Week 1” or the name of the month. Also, add the numbers of the days to your circles using the labels you’ve added in Step 2.

Future steps – Daily Creative Filling

Each day, fill in a circle with a pattern, doodle, or colors based on your mood, experiences, or simply let your creativity flow. This is your daily creative exercise – small, manageable, and fun. It’s a small but powerful way to reclaim some ‘me time’.

Moms, this creative habit tracker is more than just a tool; it’s a daily reminder that your self-care is important. It’s an opportunity to pause, reflect, and express yourself artistically every day. It’s a simple, yet powerful tool to make creativity a daily ritual in your life.
