Supplies for the Christmas Lollipop Drawing exercise

Supplies used:

Bristol paper (BeCreativeShop), alcohol markers (ohuhu), fineliner 0.3, 1.0 (Ohuhu).

Alternative supply suggestions:

You can use any material for this exercise, such as colored pencils, crayons, or a pencil. 

Instructions:

Step 1: Draw spiral lollipops
Step 1 – Drawing the Lollipops

Before you start, slowly breathe in and out a few times to clear your head. Then, bring yourself to the present, away from all the day-to-day stress.

Start by filling your page with spirals. Close each spiral at the end to form the lollipop’s head.

Draw a vertical line extending from each spiral – this will be your lollipop stick.

Step 2: Add small vertical lines along the spiral, following its curve
Step 2 – Adding the First Layer of Color

Choose a color for your lollipop stripes – I went with pink. Pick one that makes you happy or calms you.

Step 3: Add more vertical lines.
Step 3 – Adding a lighter shade and some depth

Select a lighter shade of your first color.

Draw another set of vertical lines next to the first ones, following the spiral’s shape.

With a light grey pencil or marker, trace over the inside lines of your spiral. This step begins to add depth and dimension to your lollipops

Step 4: Add some depth and shade
Step 4 – Adding extra depth and final touches

Use a darker shade of grey to trace the inside of the spiral again, enhancing the 3D effect.

Add a light shade on one side of each lollipop head to create a sense of light and shadow, giving your drawing a more realistic and finished look.
