Discover how drawing positive affirmations can boost your mood, reduce stress, and enhance mindfulness. Perfect for busy moms!
Hey, busy mom! I know from experience that mom guilt and the pressure of people around you can make you forget about your own self-care. You put your own needs last or think you don’t deserve me-time. But I’ve discovered how important taking a moment for yourself is.
Today, I want to share a relaxing and uplifting creative exercise that can help you feel more positive and centered: drawing positive affirmations.
Why positive affirmations?
Positive affirmations are powerful tools for improving your mental health. By repeatedly writing and seeing affirmations like “I’m enough” and “Happy mom, happy family,” you can start to internalize these messages and truly believe them.
Combining affirmations with creativity not only reinforces these positive thoughts but also adds a fun and relaxing element to your self-care routine.
Drawing and writing can be calming and meditative, helping reduce stress and anxiety.
Have fun with this drawing positive affirmations exercise! Please let me know if you’ve tried it; I would love to see it.

Supplies used:
Bristol paper (BeCreativeShop), fineliner 08 (Micron), fineliner 0.5 (Ohuhu), felt tip pen (Faber Castell), Brush pens (Tombow)
Alternative supply suggestions:
You can use any supplies: colored pencils, crayons, markers, watercolors, etc. Or just a regular pen or pencil.
Instructions for drawing positive affirmations:
Step 1 – Choose your affirmations
If possible, find a quiet corner where you won’t be disturbed for a while. Lay out your supplies and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.
Select a few positive affirmations that resonate with you. These can be simple statements like “I got this,” “I deserve time to relax,” or any other empowering phrases. You can google them, browse some books, or think of them yourself.
Step 2 – Draw your positive affirmations, mama!
Begin by writing your first affirmation on the page. Experiment with different lettering styles—bold, cursive, block letters, etc. Fit the words together like a puzzle, letting each affirmation shape the space around it.
Play with the size, shape, and style of your letters.
Crooked lines, wonky letters, and uneven spacing are all okay! Remember, the goal isn’t to create a flawless piece of art but to enjoy the process and reinforce positive thoughts. Let go of any perfectionism and allow yourself to simply play with the shapes and words.
Step 3 – Add some extra details
Add small doodles, hearts, stars, or other decorative elements to make the page visually interesting and uniquely yours.
Continue adding more affirmations, fitting them together creatively until your page is full. Don’t worry about making it perfect—this is all about experimenting and having fun.
